MAC paintpot 'rubenesque'

Rubenesque by MAC

MAC paint pots are a bit of a cult product if you ask me (well, it's a bit of a cult brand really isn't it?) In today's post I thought I'd share one of my favourite ever products from MAC, their paint pot in rubenesque. I was actually lucky enough to win this beauty in a giveaway way back when but it is genuinely one of favourite eye products! Paintpots are essentially a cream eye colour that dries once applied to give a 'vibrant' finish and are described as long-wearing, colour-fast and said to blend smoothly, providing seamless coverage without caking.

Rubenesque is described as a golden peach with gold pearl, which I personally think is a very accurate description. It's almost a rose gold colour, but more peach than pink toned - which I think is lovely. Once applied it is quite sheer and the gold tones really come through, but it is buildable to a peach-gold, and very easy to blend. I don't feel the need for a primer under this, and sometimes I will use this as a base and put a powder shadow on top which makes the colours pretty and vibrant.

Paintpots retail for £14.50 each for 5g of product, Rubenesque is part of the permanent collection at MAC! If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to paint pots then I would suggest checking out the maybelline colour tattoos which you can read about in my post here which retail at only £4.99 each, a lot more affordable than MAC. I do however, love the shades offered from MAC and really want to get my hands on bare study and Let's skate!

Have you tried paintpots or any dupe/similar products?

    1. I think the US has more shades, but they are such good value for money. I love this shade but not the price tag either! :( xo
