Mac Face & Body Foundation

Mac's face and body foundation is the first and only 'high end' foundation I have purchased! As most of you know, if you read this blog regularly I am a complete and utter lover of the drugstore/highstreet when it comes to make-up and especially when it comes to foundation - I've never felt the need for any high end foundations and I am perfectly happy with my current collection of affordable bases. I'm not sure why I decided to purchase face and body, but I did.

Face and Body retails at 50ml for £21.50 or 120ml for £27, mine is the 120ml and this works out at £6.75 per 30ml ... bare in mind that the average sized foundation is 30ml so in theory this is quite a good deal - although you do tend to use more than you would a normal foundation. Face and body is a water-based foundation that is used to provide a natural coverage for your face and body (as the title would suggest).

In terms of coverage - face and body is very light yet also very buildable. As this is a water-based foundation, the consistency is far runnier than any other foundation I own and you do need to be a little careful when pouring it out of the nozzle! Applying this gives a sheer, natural looking coverage than can even out the skin tone a little and provide light coverage on your skin. However - it is also a buildable foundation, in that if you are willing to spend the time building this up, applying more and really working it into the skin - you can achieve a much more 'flawless' finish to the skin. It also comes in a wide selection of colours, I completely guessed my shade and ended up going for C1 and it's a really good match for me - for reference I usually wear ivory/vanilla in highstreet/drugstore foundations.

As I have combination-oily skin, I don't turn to this foundation for every day use, I often enjoy a heavier coverage. However, on days where I feel my skin is behaving I will reach for this - allowing my skin to breathe a bit more but still look even and natural. If I have blemishes I tend to cover these up with a concealer before applying face and body, then I would buff this in over the top of my concealer and this works well for me. This foundation will give you a shiny/dewy finish which is great for those with dry skin however for those of you like me who suffer with an oily tzone - YOU WILL NEED TO POWDER - so be prepared for that. It's not a massive problem, a quick blott with my rimmel stay matte powder and I'm good to go, but there is no way on this earth I could wear this without a powder.

Overall - I'm glad I made the decision to purchase this foundation as I really do enjoy using it. Yes, I need to powder my problematic t-zone but my skin loves this foundation for those 'lighter' days. Have you tried face and body? Do you prefer a light or heavy coverage when it comes to foundation?

  1. I tried this foundation once and absolutely loved the way it felt and stayed on my skin but the lightest shade was maybe a shade too dark so I never brought a full size! Lovely review :)

  4. I was watching lily pebbles video and she said to get more coverage with this foundation rub it between your hands until it feels rough that apply on to the skin with your hands. It gives you better coverage but still looks natural. I think it was lily pebbles it was either her or nikki tutorials xxx
