Revlon just bitten kissable balm stain: Rendezvous

As far as lip stains go, I'm a bit of a newbie! They are everywhere at the moment with both high end brands like Clinique and drugstore brands like Revlon and Bourjois releasing shades. Last summer I purchased one from Revlon's just bitten kissable balm stain range in the shade Rendezvous and for some reason I ended up losing it in one of my many handbags for a good period of time. Does this happen to anyone else, or just me?

Anyway, after finding it again I thought it was only fair to review it finally on my blog as I have been using it a LOT lately! The concept of these is to be a 'lightweight lipstain' as well as a 'moisturising balm' so essentially a product that will last hour after hour but also give some moisture. With this being my first 'stain' I wasn't sure what to expect - but I do like it.

Packaging wise it is the same as any other lip stain/crayon on the market, both high end and drugstore in that is essentially looks like a giant crayon! It's sturdy, safe to take a good battering around in your handbag and compact. It is a twist up stick so you won't need a sharpener (bonus points!).

To start with these retail for £7.99, and come in 12 different shades in the UK. The shade 'Rendezvous' is a gorgeous orange/coral colour that is something a bit different from my regular nude/pink lip products. Colour wise it is bright but still a colour you can wear for everyday use, and it packs a good amount of pigment for a balm type product. A lot of people have mentioned that they don't like the smell of these - personally I'm not bothered but it does smell a bit minty and I understand that is not everyone's cup of tea when it comes to lip products, but I don't find it a problem at all. In terms of moisture, when first applied this does provide a hint of shine and feels very much like a lip balm in the sense that it is a little bit moisturising and smooth to apply. Obviously, this feeling doesn't last all day and once it's been applied it almost dries up (without leaving your lips feeling too dry) and you are left with a stain of colour. The colour pretty much stays the same, strong, vibrant and pigmented for hours - I felt like my lips stayed the same colour and only started to fade slightly after a good few hours wear - so this is an excellent choice if you have a long day or don't have time to top up your lipstick!

Overall this is a winner for me, I'm thinking of trying out the new bourjois ones and also getting a more 'toned down' shade in the revlon ones - so if you have any shade suggestions feel free to leave a comment below and let me know!

  1. Honey is a fantastic mauve colour from the Revlon line! It's so easy to slap on in the morning if you're rushing. Also is very work appropriate :)
