2013/2014

I know your feeds are probably full to the brim of 'new years' related blog posts, so I will try my best not to bore you. Last year I wrote a blog post reflecting on my '2012' and looking back at the resolutions I made and how/if I achieved them. This year I thought I'd do the same - so here's a look at what I 'hoped' to achieve throughout 2013 ....

1. Save money - NO, I didn't manage to do this. but part of this included finding a job and keeping myself afloat financially - which I did. I have been lucky enough to have two jobs throughout the year, and I am currently in a position that I am very grateful to be in, despite having saved a total of £0.

2. Graduate - YES. I did indeed graduate, with a BSc Hons in Psychology and Counselling (2:1) and it was the proudest day of my life, to think that I achieved something as big as that. You can read about it here and here

3. Better health - I am going to say YES, I acheived this. In the last 6 months of 2013 I lost 2stone (28lbs) and that was a big acheivement for me, and it's something I am proud of. My journey is by no means over, but I feel happy about this. My resolution was not/is not to LOSE weight, but to GAIN confidence in my body and IMPROVE health.

4. Appreciate things - YES! This year my life has changed in so many ways, one of them is my ability to appreciate things. I was always a complainer, moaning and focusing on what I didn't have. In 2013 I learned the value and meaning of GRATITUDE - MOAN LESS & APPRECIATE MORE.

5. Happy Happy Happy - YES. In the past year, I have really tried to focus on what makes me happy and how to better myself as a person. As silly as it may sound, this resolution has changed my life - I am a much happier person and I truly believe that it is possible to be happy, and for the last few years that felt like it was something that was un-achievable for me - to just be happy, but guess what... I AM HAPPY.

So, all in all 2013 has been a good one. Technically speaking, I achieved 4.5 out of my 5 aims/resolutions/goals for the year and for the first time ever I am not dreading new years eve. For years I have said the exact same thing to my family and friends: that New Year's eve is the most depressing day of the year - in the words of John Lennon and Yoko - another year over, what have you done? This year feels different, in a good way. So here's to 2014.

2014

This year, I would like to carry on achieving things. I am a believer in making new years resolutions that involve starting something or bettering something, not stopping or quitting. If you focus on what you don't want to do - you will only do it more than ever before. So here are a few short and sweet 'resolutions' or goals, if you will:

- continue on my weightloss journey,
- improve my own thoughts on my own body
- continue to focus on positivity, gratitude and how good life truly is and how great it can be
- do more to help others, give back and be generous

I sincerely hope that your 2014 is a good year, may it bring you everything you want it to and enjoy and appreciate every moment.

Have a fabulous new year, I intend on staying at home watching Jools Holland and enjoying my own company reflecting on the last 365 days.
