As part of my spending ban with Lauren I'll be sharing a DIY post today in an attempt to have an at home pamper session without spending any money and by using kitchen cupboard ingredients! This was my first time ever trying to make my own hair mask and I have to say, I love it! So here's what you'll need to get started:
Begin with seperating the egg yolk ad mix in the olive oil and honey to make a kind of paste. Then you can add the milk. I used half a cup (about 50ml) but you may find if you have longer hair then you may need to use more and if you have shorter hair you can use less. The finished consistency is quite runny and should look something like the picture above.
Place a towel on your shoulders to prevent the hair mask going all over your top and apply the mask to your hair, focusing on the ends but also applying all over. You can apply to wet or dry hair, I found it best to apply to dry hair so that I could wash it out then shampoo as usual. Make sure the ends of the hair are saturated, and it's good to comb through the hair with your fingers to make sure you cover your hair evenly. Then sit back and relax for around 20 - 25 minutes and let the hair mask do it's work!
You then need to rinse your hair thoroughly to ensure the hair mask is completely washed out (you definitely don't want egg, milk, honey and oil left in your hair!). Dry and style as normal and then enjoy the silky smoothness of your hair! As you can see in the comparison pics above, my hair before was dry with frizz and a little bit dull, afterwards it was far smoother and glossier. This is definitely something I will be doing again, my hair feels so soft and full of shine today, not to mention I had all of the ingredients in my kitchen anyway so this was technically a free treat - excellent considering my spending ban.
