Products I regret buying

If you've been a reader of my blog for a while you might remember a post I did back last summer about some of the products I didn't like! Today I thought it was about time to share another bunch of products that just didn't work for me, as a few people had requested more of these posts in the future. Please note, most of these are down to personal preference rather than a product being 'bad', it's always worth baring in mind that products that don't work for me may work for you and vice versa. So let's get into the nitty gritty of it:

beauty blog uk products i regret buying not worth the hype

First up is a Flawless Eyeshadow quad from Elf in the shade 'Beautiful Browns' which retails for £2.50. I really really love the shades in this mini palette but the pigmentation and colour pay off are quite poor. They swatch well on your finger but once applied with a brush they kind of disappear into nothing but a faint shimmer. They're also quite crumbly and chalky in texture which I don't like, even though it's only £2.50 I haven't used them at all so I wouldn't recommend this particular palette.

Maybelline brow drama sculpting mascara is a recent purchase but definitely one I won't be making again. You can read my full review of this product in a recent post but to sum it up it has no colour pay off and looks greasy and crusty all in one go. A definite no-no. Bourjois happy light matte primer is a bit of strange one; it's not that it did anything bad to my skin it just didn't do anything good. It claims to mattify skin, give a velvet finish and minimise pores but I found it did none of the above. I found that it had no effect whatsoever on a) the way my foundation applied and b) how long my foundation lasted. Considering it's £10.99 I expected a little bit more from it.

The Revlon Lip Butter in red velvet is probably more of a shade preference than anything. I wanted to try a darker shade back in the winter and I love the berry tones of this particular shade but it just didn't look right. I found it applied quite patchy on the lips and bled out as well, so I'm not sure if this is something that happens with the darker shades or maybe it's this particular shade but I just didn't like it. I'll stick to my pinks and peaches when it comes to the lip butters. Generally I love the lip butters from Revlon but this just doesn't work for me. Next is Avon's ideal flawless concealer; which is a concealer stick that I just couldn't get on with. The shade was quite orange toned which I don't particularly like and I just found this too drying, to the extent where it drags the skin and clings to any dry areas resulting in a flaking mess. Not a good look.

Finally is Barry M's lash vegas mascara; the waterproof version. This could just be because I generally don't use waterproof mascaras but this just made my lashes crusty and flaky by the end of the day. I like the brush and I like the super black formula but it clumps so easily on my lashes and it's so easy to get 'spider lashes' when I use this so unfortunately I didn't like it! I'm intrigued to see what the non-waterproof version of this mascara is like though.

Let me know if you enjoy these kinds of posts. Feel free to share any products you regret buying or your experiences with any of the above products in the comments below.
