Seventeen Miracle Matte Pressed Powder

If like me you have oily/combo skin then you know all too well that finding a powder that can control the oil (sounds like some kind of slogan! ha) is important. Normally I am an advocate of my staple Stay Matte powder from Rimmel but I noticed that it has started to cling to any dry areas, which doesn't look great. So I've been trying out a few different face powders and currently I am using Miracle Matte by Seventeen (previously 17 cosmetics).

The shade I am using is ivory porcelain, which is the palest shade of course. Miracle Matte powder is available in 3 shades and is just £3.99 in Boots. Having not tried much from this brand before, I was intrigued to say the least by their claim for a 16hr shine free finish. Let's get that out of the way first, it's not 16 hours but who leaves their makeup on for that long anyway? I'll give it 8 hours max and by the end of that I will need to touch up if I was planning on stepping outside my front door again.

8 hours is nothing to grumble at mind you, as for those 8 hours it does provide shine control, a matte finish and hold makeup for longer. The shade applies to be almost transparent so it's quite easy to avoid the cakey look when it comes to your base. I find applying this with a duo fibre brush helps give a light even coverage that doesn't look too matte and then I use the puff to press the powder into my tzone as this is my main problem area!

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this powder. It doesn't fit the 16hr claim but it does control oil and it does keep the shine at bay. The packing is nice, nothing too fussy and with an excellent sized compact mirror in making it ideal for handbag touch ups. For the price, it's worth checking out if you are after a non-cakey, matte finish that won't look orange on the skin! The powder is available to buy here for £3.99 and currently on 3 for 2!
