Since clearing up my room and adding some new furniture (see room tour) I've been thinking about making some kind of frame wall. I've seen tonnes of them on pinterest and really want to create my own so I'm gradually collecting frames, pictures and doing a few DIY projects to complete it. Here is a really simple DIY frame I did earlier this month.
As well as having pretty things, pictures and a few quotes up there I wanted to add a few personal touches. I kept a piece of card from a present from my niece and nephew, just because it's cute and they're cute. I also used some backing paper from tiger to add a cute pop of colour and avoid having a blank background. I then bought a UK map poster from Clintons cards (£2.99, although it was in a 2 for £1.50 offer!). I liked the idea of framing a map and I decided to frame the Wales section of the map, after all Wales is all I've ever known and I do like it so I thought this would be a nice touch.
To measure the images I just used the original image from inside the frame to map out where I was going to cut (no pun intended). It's a good idea to pencil on the back of the image for a cutting guideline.
I think they make beauiful, personal framed pictures and I can't wait to put them up. It took a grand total of about 5 minutes and turned out to be cheaper than buying a similar print in a shop! I can't wait to do more. The white frames came in a pack of 2 for £2 from Asda by the way - I think I'm going to pick up a few different sized frames next time I'm in Ikea too!
