Degustabox - the food subscription box May 2014: Review

degustabox may 2014 review discount code blogger lifestyle

This month I was lucky enough to get the chance to try out a food subscription box known as 'degustabox' - having never tried a food based subscription box before I was really excited to see what I would get and the types of products that would be included. My box arrived and it was MASSIVE, I was really surprised by how big the box was and how much was packed inside.

In my box I received the following items:
  • 1 x Cirio Tomato Puree – RRP £1.10
  • 1 x Garofalo Penne Pasta (500g) – RRP £1.89
  • 1 x Cirio Passata – RRP £1.35
  • 2 x Hornsby’s Cider – RRP £2.50
  • 1 x Can of Cloudy Apple Cawston Press – RRP £1.00
  • 1 x Lizi’s Granola – RRP £1.29
  • 2 x Packs of Raw Energy Chewing Gum – RRP £1.98 (99pence per pack)
  • 1 x Dr Oetker Cake Releasing Spray – RRP £2.28
  • 1 x Kettle Sweet Potato Chips – RRP £2.49
  • 1 x Elizabeth Shaw Dark Chocolate Flutes – RRP £2.59
  • 1 box of Taylors of Harrogate Blackberry & Elderflower Tea – RRP £2.99
It was great to see a selection of food and drink products inside the box and also some brands I already knew and recognised. Equally, I love the concept of being able to try out new brands before you commit to buying a product yourself in store. I think it's great how there's a mix of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks, cooking supplies, food and sauces - a really wide variety of products to try out.

My favourites were the Lizi's Granola pouch which I tried out when the box arrived; you just add 3 spoons of water and you're good to go - it's also lactose free which was a relief for me! It was truly scrummy and definitely something I would buy myself! I also really enjoyed the cider, especially the strawberry and lime bottle! The cooking spray is definitely something I (my mum lol) will repurchase - it's awesome and really does work at making cakes, bread etc easier to remove from the baking tins! The box also came with a recipe card which was a nice touch, that included some of the products received in this months box.

The value of the box was a total of £21.46 which is not quite double the £12.99 price tag, not bad at all! Even better if you use a discount code (see below)! Even as a fussy eater I liked 11/12 of the items in the box - fruit teas are not my thing, but they'll be appreciated by someone in my house I'm sure! Overall verdict? Really impressed! Thanks Degustabox!

Is this something you would enjoy receiving every month? Or perhaps occasionally?
