This week's Fragrance Friday is a rather unusual scent in Diesel's Loverdose which is essentially a liquorice based perfume - sounds bizzare, no? I couldn't resist giving this a whiff at the Boots perfume counter a few years ago and when I did it instantly found itself on my wishlist and quickly became one of my favourites. The packaging is to die for, shaped like a jagged glass heart with a dagger going through and a purple liquid fragrance. Diesel Loverdose Eau de Parfum Spray for Women 50 ml is priced at around £30 for 30ml but on amazon you can find it for just under £30 for a 50ml which is a brilliant price!
It's described as a 'spellbinding' designer fragrance that is deep, sweet, rich and irresistible. It has top notes of mandarin and star anise which give it a sweet spicy scent with heart notes of jasmine, liquorice and gardenia. To finish off it has base notes of amber and vanilla which give it more depth. For me, the main scent is definitely liquorice; but not in an over-powering kind of way. On first spritz, the liquorice hits you quite strongly but as soon as the fragrance settles into the skin so to speak, you're left with a subtle hint of liquorice and a beautiful fragrance. I absolutely adore this perfume and that's coming from someone who detests the taste of liquorice - so don't let that put you off; go and give it a sniff in Boots!
