Being lucky enough to travel anywhere is a wonderful experience, making it all the way to Thailand is a genuine treat. This country has so many wonderful experiences to offer anyone who is interested in adventure and wonder. So, where to get started with our tips on exploring this culture-rich paradise
1. Take your time
Unless you have a whole month, you’re not going to be able to see all of Thailand on your trip, so you should choose what you want to see with care and make sure that you have enough time to fully enjoy each place that you see. If you try to do too much in too little time then you won’t really get to enjoy any of it. This is good travel advice for anywhere but it is especially true of any trip to Thailand. If you spend half of your trip on a bus, train, or plane you will absolutely regret it.
2. Check off some of the best parts first
You should probably start your adventure in Bangkok and explore the famous Khao San Road and reclining Buddha. There is a lot to see and do here and it is a great place to pick up some souvenirs. You can then make the journey to Chiang Mai which has a unique character all of its own. If you want to add a little bit of history to your trip then why not visit the Bridge Over the River Kwai too.
3. Check out some of the temples
When you look back on your travels you won’t remember all of the bars and the clubs that you went to. You’re far more likely to look back and think about the unique architecture of the temples that you visited and the feeling of awe you felt when you first saw them. Thailand is famous for its temples so get your camera and start making memories.
4. Eat some of the food
Thai street food is some of the best on the planet. You have not lived until you have tried a hastily made pad thai on the streets of Bangkok or savoured some of the many other treats that can be found on your travels. If you try a restaurant you will fall in love again with the country and the food in all its entirety. There really is nothing like it.
5. Watch out for mosquitos
These are going to be all over you. So you probably will get bitten, this doesn’t mean that you have to like it. By wearing mosquito repellant you will be able to significantly reduce the number of bug bites that you get and make the rest of your stay much more enjoyable.
6. Check out some of the markets
Thailand has some unique open-air markets that will open your eyes to a whole new way of life. Be ready to be surprised and filled with joy that you are able to travel to such places with ease.
7. Watch out for scams
This is something that you should have an eye open when you travel to any country. In Thailand, there are scams that target westerners so you need to be extra careful. Be sure that you agree the price for a cab ride in advance and that you have a solid understanding of the value of the local currency before you get on the plane.
8. Take lots of pictures
Don’t forget to take as many photos as you can on your adventure so that you can look back and remember your Thailand tour experience. Don’t worry, you won’t be able to stay away for very long.
